James Allen specialises in developing both quantitative and qualitative modelling tools and techniques and has an in-depth knowledge of a wide range of the telecoms market, covering broadband fixed access, 3G networks, and next generation data services. He has recently worked on topics including technology choice, LLUB in Europe, regulatory costing of DSL, a UMTS licence bid, a global market forecasting system, an IP access product portfolio, an ASP service design, and a start-up business plan used in successfully obtaining VC funding. He is also an expert in managing software development, specifying and building ‘proof of concept’ software systems for clients. Furthermore, he has significant regulatory and policy work experience, and has worked in south Asia for regulators as well as on a licence application for 3G spectrum.
Before joining Analysys Mason in 1998, James worked for The Smith Group where he led a number of groundbreaking projects on quantitative cost-benefit analysis of large and complex projects and portfolios.
