Philip Bates, Senior Manager at Analysys Mason, joined the company in 2008 and is an accomplished consultant with a wide-ranging knowledge of the international telecoms industry. Most recently, Philip's focuss has been on projects for the global satellite sector.
His satellite consulting experience includes a project to forecast the market for satellite services in developing countries over the next ten years, due diligence of a company providing IP satellite capacity to mobile operators; ISPs and public- and private-sector end users in sub-Saharan Africa; and strategic advice to an MSS operator on a complementary ground component.
Philip has worked in the telecoms and data networking industry for 25 years and has previously held management posts with MSS operator ICO Global Communications, BT, and a number of technology start-ups, giving him wide-ranging experience including programme and project management (particularly for new product and service launches), business strategy (with particular emphasis on sustaining and expanding start-up businesses and new divisions), and systems engineering for voice and data networks. Philip holds an MA in Engineering from Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge and an MBA from Warwick Business School. His is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the IET.
