The inaugural meeting of the panel was held in Washington DC on 12 December 2007.
Discussions at the meeting covered the current state of next-generation networks, the openness of mobile networks and deployment of new networks, and the current growth of online services.
This panel session was introduced by Simon Jones, CEO of Analysys Mason and was facilitated by Jeff Rohlfs, Partner at Analysys Mason.
Topics discussed at the meeting included:
- next-generation networks: regulatory policies regarding net neutrality and regarding loop unbundling for copper and fibre
- mobile networks: public policies designed to promote openness of the networks
- online services: effects of the rapid growth of online platforms on fixed and mobile networks.
