Installation and commissioning management

We provide clients with enhanced time to market through developing efficient and effective Intallation and Commussioning (I&C) strategies and managing I&C delivery work.

I&C planning must begin in the early stages of site design in order to avoid costly retro-fits and aborted I&C visits at the critical stages of the roll-out.  Once a site has been built and inspected, the site should be ready for installation and commissioning. However, if the requirements for I&C readiness have not been included in the site design, aborted visits and delays will result, and cost and schedule overruns will be incured.  It is critical to ensure that the correct specification is developed and incorporated into the site design guide, and is reviewed as part of the site construction inspection process.

Our experienced I&C managers can also assist our clients with developing a service specification and pre-qualification documents for procurement of I&C services, in addition to ongoing management and troubleshooting during delivery.

Common issues

Best practices

All identified equipment on site when required Tested and proven supply chain management is crucial to ensuring accurate and timely delivery of alll the necessary equipment
Poor installation practices resulting in failure and reduced network performance Certified/approved installers with teams properly trained in the specific equipment - e.g. through trial installation onsite or a designated training site if possible
Equipment failure on site resulting in abortive visits and rework Management of spares ensuring 'van spares' availability for I&C teams
Lack of onsite supervision/post installation audit resource availability A clear strategy for onsite supervision and auditing should be agreed at the project outset and then a sufficient number of experienced, motivated and managed staff to be made available throughout the project duration
Unclear requirements issued to contractors resulting in delayed or incorrect installations Encourage the practice of issuing only 100% complete work under instructions to I&C teams. This must include all handover documentation and complete set of site instructions. These should be signed off as accepted by the teams prior to commencing work
