Analysys Mason works with service providers to implement processes that optimise their businesses. Usually this means going back to first principles and working though complex organisational structures and responsibilities to understand how the business functions.
We take a methodological approach to capturing operational and process requirements as input to operational and business support systems (OSS/BSS). We focus on the costs and benefits of each process, and in particular how it supports the business's strategy. This ensures that the systems that are implemented are fit for purpose.
We then analyse current processes to understand where the largest gains will come from, through:
- process design (where processes are virtually non-existent)
- process re-design or re-engineering (where processes are immature or require upgrading or revamping)
- process implementation (including controls to ensure adherence).
We believe that process frameworks such as eTOM should always serve as a starting point for analysis, and alignment with Telemanagement Forum concepts should be a goal of all service providers. But processes do not exist in abstract. Organisational functions, people and IT systems all carry out tasks that contribute towards the process outcomes. Change can be difficult, expensive and costly.
We provide process migration maps to guide organisational and OSS/BSS transformation, based on a proper understanding of our clients’ businesses, strategic priorities and the practicalities of migration. This approach minimises costs to the business and mitigates the risk of damaging business brands.
