Detailed revenue estimation

We help clients assess precisely and rapidly the impact of considered tariff evolution and promotions on each considered segment and overall company revenues by applying a quantitative approach to revenue analysys based on a sample of real subscriber data. We use the same approach to assist clients identify revenue assurance problems within their operations.

Analysys Mason’s extensive international experience in telecoms pricing provides insight into the pricing approaches to adopt in both fixed and mobile operations, and across both developed and emerging markets

Analysys Mason’s data-processing skills allow us to re-build operator revenues from the CDRs of a sample of subscribers for a given period. Having detailed information about the subscriber base allows the characterisation of customer micro-segments, based on their usage patterns and needs. The segments can then be identified with greater granularity that the DWH KPI would typically record.

This information enables us to design tariffs and promotions targeted at specific segments, rather than taking a scatter-gun approach where too much value may be handed to subscribers.

The limited data set allows us to run what-if analyses quickly, without any negative implication in terms of the accuracy of the results. Fine-tuning of the tariff price points, or the testing of scenarios then becomes a real possibility.

The benefits of this approach go beyond easing the tariff and promotion definition process. We effectively do a DWH information audit, which can inform as to the risk of revenue leakage and alert managements as to the short-coming of the systems. We recently assisted a client identify that some 10% of subscribers’ CDRs were actually missing from the DWH records.
