Invitation to the public presentation of final results of the Commission study

‘Exploiting the digital dividend’ – a European approach, Brussels, 9 September 2009

The digital dividend is high on the Commission's information society policy agenda due to its significant potential impact on growth and economic development, as well as for the important social benefits it may bring to EU citizens. The recent efforts being made to stimulate economic recovery mean that it is even more important to ensure a co-ordinated EU approach to exploiting the digital dividend.

On 10 July 2009, the Commission published a consultation document summarising the Commission's intentions regarding a common approach for the digital dividend: “Transforming the digital dividend opportunity into social benefits and economic growth in Europe”(click here for details).

In the development of the strategy for the digital dividend, and in particular in the elaboration of the proposals submitted to public consultation, the Commission was assisted by a large-scale study conducted by Analysys Mason, DotEcon and Hogan & Hartson. This study included wide-ranging consultations and also involved close cooperation with Member States and the Radio Spectrum Policy Group (RSPG).

In this context, the Commission invites all interested stakeholders to a public presentation of the final results of the study which will take place in Brussels on Wednesday, 9 September 2009, from 9:30 to 13:00 (registration required).

Venue: European Commission

              BU25 Building -  Room 0 / S1

              Avenue de Beaulieu 25 – 1160 Brussels

This presentation will provide the consultants with the opportunity to present the analysis that they have undertaken, as well as their recommended actions. It will also provide stakeholders with an opportunity to question the consultants about their work.
