I am French and trained for my Master’s degree in Telecommunications and Management at ParisTech in France. I joined Analysys Mason in the Cambridge office for a six months internship as part of my Master’s program in 2005. When the internship ended in December 2005, I was offered a job as a Business Analyst straight-away. I had to go back to University in Paris for six months to end my scholarship and therefore would have had plenty of time to apply to other jobs, but my experience working as an intern had been so great that it did not take me very long before I accepted to return. I rejoined as a full time Business Analyst in Cambridge in August 2006 and since then, was promoted to Consultant in September 2007 and transferred to our Madrid office in February 2008.
My favourite project was for an incumbent operator in the Middle-East. The project involved building an investment case for the deployment of both fixed and mobile operations in a large Sub-Saharan country. One of the main objectives was highlighting the necessary economic and market conditions making the business case viable in a fast-growing, but low-income country – which made the job particularly challenging. The project took two months and involved four people, including director, manager and two team members
I had plenty of opportunities to get on relevant training courses since I joined. In my first year, I have followed a number of courses totalling over ten full days. The ones I enjoyed most are Structured Thinking, Presentation Skills and Proposal Writing, because I felt it dramatically improved the way I work and think.
One thing I really enjoy at Analysys Mason is the way our work spreads across the globe. I have a particular interest in developing markets and the company gives me the chance to get involved in major acquisition projects in African and Central Asian markets.
Being particularly keen on developing language skills, I had always been attracted by the idea of moving to one of our offices abroad. The transfer went really smoothly since I already had had the chance to work with most Madrid-based staff. Indeed, one of the other enjoyable international aspects Analysys Mason has to offer is cross office work: during my time in Cambridge, I had the opportunity to work on projects with staff in Paris, Madrid and even Washington DC and Singapore. On top of that, our company events are also office-independent, which makes it easier to develop strong interpersonal relationships with staff overseas.
Analysys Mason has a true international appeal (offices working together rather than competing against each other) and thought leadership in the constantly evolving telecoms market and these are precisely the reasons why I chose to join. I like to feel we are experts in what we do.
Our work is fascinating and challenging, but staff keep a cool head and both feet on the ground, making the work atmosphere really enjoyable.
Outside the office, I am a quite active person. I love running and swimming, but also want to keep some time for friends and therefore need to be particularly careful about keeping a good work-life balance.
