After graduating from a degree in Economics at the LSE in 2006, I worked as an analyst in the Risk Advisory department of a Big 4 Firm where I worked on a variety of internal audit and business improvement projects in the telecoms and ICT sectors. In October 2007, I joined Analysys Mason as an Associate Consultant where I have been involved in a wide range of strategic and regulatory projects for the telecoms sector.
My favourite project so far has been developing an upgraded 3G cost model for the Greek telecoms regulator. Our main objective was to accurately present the unit costs of services incurred by the different mobile operators using current market statistics. Working in a team of four people, this experience has been a great learning opportunity and I have gained a lot of technical knowledge and insight from working with my peers which I am positive will stand me in good stead for projects to come.
Working at Analysys Mason provides its people with many opportunities for those who wish to travel. This can either be from working onsite with the client or from working in one of our international offices. During the past 6 months I have spent a few weeks at our Paris office working on a due diligence project with my French colleagues and am now frequently visiting Cyprus on a project for the Cypriot telecoms regulator. I can discuss my training and development needs at any time with my line manager and there are always opportunities to go on specific courses to build up the skills you believe are necessary for your career path.
I joined Analysys Mason because I was excited by the range of strategy projects it was involved in. Having worked in project management roles for telecoms projects at my previous firm, I felt I was not being challenged enough. I wanted to move into the strategy consulting area to specialise in an exciting and continuously-changing sector such as telecoms. Coming from a large organisation, I also wanted to experience a smaller working environment where you can build a sustainable rapport with colleagues and feel part of a more close-knit community.
Analysys Mason is a great place to work. People respect different perspectives and everybody is united in finding the most innovative solutions for our clients’ needs. The most distinguishing factor for me is the collaborative work ethic and the passion and energy with which everyone carries out their day-to-day activities. We also have a social events team in our London office who arrange team activities and evenings out. This way we can catch up with colleagues over a drink or spend a day out doing some team-building activities such as paintballing which was our last event!
Working at Analysys Mason provides a very good work-life balance for those who wish to pursue personal interests outside the office. Personally, I enjoy travelling, cooking, trying out new restaurants and am also a keen piano-player.
