The company’s consultants are supported in their work by the Editorial Group, which is responsible for ensuring the quality, clarity, consistency, accuracy and appropriateness of:
- document structure and scope
- written style
- visual presentation of information
- physical appearance (including page layout)
in all material. In pursuit of this objective, all externally published material (except for routine correspondence) passes through the Editorial Group. Analysys Mason has gained a strong reputation for the high quality of the material sent to clients, and, although the final responsibility for this material rests with Project Managers, the company relies heavily on the expertise of the Editorial Group to ensure that quality is maintained and deadlines are met.
Job description
Responsibilities:
- structural editing, copy-editing and proof-reading of material for consultancy reports, proposals and presentations
- preparation of graphics for reports, etc., using PC-based drawing and charting packages
- preparation of presentation materials (text and graphics)
- applying house style and assisting in its refinement· production editing of reports
- assisting in the preparation of conference papers, articles for publication and other marketing materials.
Relationships within the company
- line management and appraisal from the Head of Editorial
- co-operation with colleagues in the Editorial Group and Strategy Consulting.
Location
The job will be based in Cambridge or London but may involve the occasional visit to Analysys Mason’s other offices or client sites.
Review
Appraisals are held at least annually and salaries are reviewed on 1 April.
Requirements
Qualifications and experience
It is expected that the Editor will be educated to degree standard. The subject of study is less important than methodicalness, attention to detail, and the ability to understand technical subjects and make them understandable to others. The ability to gain the confidence of colleagues, a high degree of motivation, and the ability to organise and prioritise are essential.
Direct relevant experience in editing, together with experience of working in an office environment, will be an advantage.
Candidates should be computer-literate and have a good understanding of wordprocessing, although we will provide training for the particular packages we use.
Ability to speak a European language fluently would be an advantage (particularly French).
