Philip Bates is a Principal in Analysys Mason's consulting division. His consulting experience includes: projects for satellite operators on market forecasting, strategy and business planning , transaction support and regulation; a range of due diligence, business planning and spectrum valuation projects for fixed and mobile operators in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia; and telecoms regulation and public policy work for a variety of clients around the world. He has also managed a number of postal regulation and strategy projects in the Middle East and Africa.
He has worked in the telecoms and data networking industry for 30 years, and previously held posts with BT, ICO Global Communications and a number of technology start-ups, giving him wide-ranging management experience in: new product and service launches; business strategy (with particular emphasis on sustaining and expanding start-up businesses and new divisions); and systems engineering for voice and data networks. Philip has also been responsible for channel and business development in a number of companies and for negotiating commercial contracts in an international environment.
Philip holds an MA in Engineering from Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, and an MBA from Warwick Business School. He is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the IET.
