Ericsson’s IoT marketplace improves its application enablement platform, but it still lags behind its rivals

Ericsson launched an app marketplace on its IoT Accelerator platform in advance of Mobile World Congress 2018. The move was designed to help Ericsson to get closer to the application developer community, which is an essential step in building an IoT platform. Software vendors such PTC ThingWorx and Software AG (with Cumulocity) have successfully adopted this approach. Ericsson, with its telecoms background, still needs to work hard to build developer support and be recognised as an application enablement platform (AEP) provider.
