In the three years since acquiring Portal Communications in 2005, Oracle has also acquired Portal Software, MetaSolv Software and BEA Systems, and has launched Oracle Communications Global Business Unit. It then proceeded to put together a market leading telecoms software industry business. It has done a remarkable job of linking products that came from different sources, retaining staff from acquired companies and building on the acquired installed customer base from the various companies. Oracle now leads the USD1859 million customer care market with an estimated market share of 28% and has expanded its overall market share in the communications market substantially in recent years. Oracle’s customer care is implemented in mobile, wireline, broadband and satellite CSPs, supporting all service segments. Mobile accounts for over half of the revenue, and is bound to increase as the mobile customer care market grows further.
