Spain country report 2011

Spain telecoms country reportThe Report

This Country Report provides a comprehensive overview of the key telecoms market indicators and the socioeconomic situation in Spain. It also analyses the strategies of key players in the country's fixed and mobile telecoms markets. In addition, the Report includes a market outlook that focuses on the following key trends and emerging opportunities.

  • The recession continued to be the main constraint to operator revenue in 2010.
  • Fixed–mobile substitution is not much of an issue for Spanish operators because most are converged players.
  • Expected changes in the frequency landscape will affect future mobile technology deployments.
  • Triple-play packages based around pay-TV services are becoming more successful in a market with excessive broadband prices.
  • Multiple competing fibres to each home remains a (fat) pipe dream.
  • The user experience of mobile broadband services has been mixed to date, but growth opportunities persist.
