Service delivery platforms: worldwide forecast 2011–2015

The worldwide service delivery platform (SDP) market was worth USD3.6 billion in 2010, and will grow at a CAGR of 11.7% to reach USD6.3 billion in 2015.

In developed markets, the main driver for SDP spending is the need to enable new revenue streams from new services, enhancements of established services and new business models. These factors also apply in emerging markets, but the underlying growth in subscriber numbers is the fundamental driver of growth in these regions. In both cases, prepaid services are a major factor in SDP spending. Real-time charging directly supports prepaid services, and telecoms application servers (TAS) are used to enhance them. The increasing success of the Android, Apple and similar ecosystems will dampen the growth rates in mobile device management as well as mobile content management and delivery.

This Report provides:

  • a five-year forecast of spending in the SDP market, split into:
    • four sub-segments (telecoms application servers, mobile content management and delivery, mobile device management and real-time charging)
    • four telecoms services (mobile, PSTN, business and residential broadband)
    • four geographical regions (Asia–Pacific, Central and Latin America, North America and Western Europe).
  • an examination of key market drivers and inhibitors, and how they will change over time
  • analysis of the regional dynamics that may influence the market
  • insight into the technologies and services that are influencing the market
  • recommendations for communications service providers (CSPs) and vendors.

This report is a companion to the previously published Service delivery platforms: worldwide market shares 2010, which details the business conditions in this market, as well as the market shares, offerings and strategies of the major software providers.
