Fraud management systems: making the most of big data analytics

New types of fraud are developing in telecoms and known types are becoming more complex. New techniques must be deployed to identify and manage fraud cases, as a result. Communications service providers (CSPs) that intend to address fraud better should use their big data analytics (BDA) platforms, in addition to specialist application tools. BDA platforms enable real-time monitoring and machine learning to spot new fraud and provide automated actions to prevents attacks or reduce their impact.

This report provides:

  • data from interviews with CSPs and vendors
  • strategies to improve current fraud management systems for CSPs and vendors, considering both currently-deployed and new big data analytics technologies
  • an overview of current tools and solutions for fraud management and their relative strengths and weaknesses
  • recommendations for both CSPs and vendors.
