Policy development and response

National regulatory authorities (NRAs) regularly assess competition in specific relevant markets to:

  • define the relevant markets
  • assess whether there is significant market power (SMP)
  • assess if there is SMP, impose one or more remedies on the SMP operator.

Analysys Mason has assisted regulators in the process of undertaking these reviews. We have also built models used in setting price controls as part of the remedies.

We have also worked for operators, in parallel with the regulator's processes, helping to develop a regulatory strategy by anticipating, or reacting to, regulators' decisions.
