"AI-based solutions will be critical to limiting the operational costs that 5G will place on CSPs."

It is widely accepted that the complexity of operating a 5G network means that extensive automation is needed to make the technology viable. The increased number of parameters, the dynamic nature of services, the disaggregation of infrastructure and the shared resources call for sophisticated processes and management. AI is considered to be the solution to these challenges. 5G networks are also likely to co-exist with the current 2G/3G/4G and other networks, thereby introducing the additional challenge of operating yet another network while maintaining operational costs at their current levels. Automation is of critical importance thanks to its ability to reduce the impact of 5G on current resources by lowering operational effort and enabling complex services to be offered cost-effectively. AI-based automations are the key to automating 5G.
