Artificial intelligence (AI) is a term that has existed for years, but is going through another iteration, that includes it being applied with robotic process automation (RPA). Although related, these two technologies are very distinct from each other and provide a different set of benefits for the telecoms operator. AT&T, Deutsche Telekom and others are working with ‘AI’ and the technology is moving beyond the initial ‘hype’ to being implemented and providing real business benefits. AI is best understood if separated into several components.
