Renaming NFV will not hasten cloud-native deployment: instead, vendors must address its technical challengesNetwork function virtualisation (NFV) deployment is proceeding over three phases, with the final goal of running network functions in the cloud. The market needs to understand the distinction between virtualisation and ‘cloudification’. However, vendors should focus on removing major technical obstacles to cloud adoption, rather than on renaming NFV in an attempt to hasten the transition.
