Operators have historically had limited success with their video communications initiatives, though some have recently renewed their efforts in this area using ViLTE or variants of RCS. In the intervening period, however, the video communications landscape has altered quite radically, and OTT players have driven these changes. This comment delineates the new landscape for video communications services with a view to identifying potential opportunities for operators.
