More and more emerging-market incumbents are making investments in FTTx networks, and Telkom Indonesia was an early mover with its IndiHome-branded fibre roll-out. The roll-out initially struggled to generate significant subscriber take-up and the targets for subscriber numbers were not met. However, more recently, the IndiHome deployment has seen much improved subscriber and revenue growth; this comment assesses the drivers behind this trend and the implications for other operators.
