Webinar or presentation | PPTX and PDF | Operator Investment Strategies

Rupert Wood, Research Director, presented these slides at Analysys Mason's sixth annual invitation-only event in London on Thursday 4 October 2018. This event was designed to help operators and vendors to understand the key drivers and trends that are influencing the telecoms, media and technology (TMT) industry in Europe.

The three main recommendations from this presentation were as follows.

  • Incumbents should not ignore the challenge of wholesale-only plays. It is difficult to regain presence as a competitor. FWA is becoming a more-potent threat.
  • InfraCos should not have a downstream ServiceCo business. Separate vehicles should be created with the aim of maximising land grab and, indirectly, conversion.
  • There is a clear role for entities to consolidate geographically diverse plays. There may also be a role for other entities to act as gatekeepers between InfraCos and ServiceCos.
