GOVSATCOM 2025 reveals that security and resiliency are driving increasing demand for in-orbit services
Governments and militaries are demonstrating a growing interest in procuring satellites and space infrastructure, driven by national strategic concerns, specifically network resiliency and security. The engagement of governments and militaries with the commercial satellite market is changing as the maturity of satellite technology increases.
This change brings opportunity but also uncertainty for commercial vendors. Conversations at the GOVSATCOM conference in Luxembourg in February 2025 demonstrated the growing interest for new space infrastructure, including that for space situational awareness (SSA) and in-orbit services (IOSs), and highlighted some of the challenges involved in serving government customers.
