The Cambridge office

Our work

Typical projects

Consulting team members who are based in the Cambridge office mainly focus on the Regulation and Policy practice. However, members of the Cambridge office also work on a wide range of other types of projects, whether through working on a different project type being executed by a Cambridge-based team, or through being a team member on a project that is managed from another office (a quite regular occurrence).

Office head intro - Cambridge

Welcome to the Cambridge office of Analysys Mason. A personal introduction: I have been with Analysys Mason for more than 20 years, and am a main Board Director, Head of the Cambridge Office and Managing Partner for the Consulting team in Cambridge and London. I also head our TMT transaction support activities worldwide. Analysys Mason and our clients have provided me the pleasure of travelling to, and working in, more than 110 countries.

The Cambridge office is home to members of the Consulting, Research,  Editorial and Marketing teams and other valuable support staff. The office itself is well-located, just a short walk (or free-wheel) to the city centre. Even our recruits from ‘the other place’ (Oxford) like Cambridge!

I am part of Analysys Mason's Regulation and policy practice, and am based in the company's Cambridge office. I joined Analysys Mason in 2003 and have advised a variety of clients, including national regulators, fixed and mobile operators, media players, equipment vendors and investors on a wide range of projects around the world. My work focuses mainly on radio spectrum and I have particular expertise in spectrum valuation and auction support. I trained as a mathematician and have an MA from Churchill College at the University of Cambridge. I am a keen traveller and enjoy visiting far-flung parts of the world, and especially sampling the local cuisine. I remain an active member of the Cambridge University Wine Society and am also a keen sports fan, with more hours than I can count spent either at the snooker table or on the tennis court.

Mark Colville Principal

Hello! I am Julia and I am into crafts, baking and ultimate frisbee. I hold a Master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Cambridge and my technical background is not related to telecoms but has been helpful in my role. What I like about this job is the variety – both within projects, where we use a variety of skills to take a project from conception to delivery, and between projects – one month I am looking at balloons that provide connectivity in ultra-rural Africa and the next I am working on a financial forecast for an operator in New Zealand. That variety challenges me and engages me, and makes each day exciting.

Julia Allford Consultant

I joined Analysys Mason in 2018 after completing my MPhil in economics at the University of Cambridge. Being a part of this organisation is highly rewarding; I have received extensive training, been involved in various high-profile projects and have worked alongside very intelligent and caring colleagues. I am also passionate about music and sports; especially EDM and Formula 1 right now. I also enjoy cooking, coming a long way from just having pot noodles every day at that start of university.

Culture and benefits

Office and culture - Cambridge

Working in Cambridge

In the Cambridge office, we love to get together for planned or spontaneous meals and after work drinks. In your first year as an Associate Consultant, you will have an office 'buddy' with whom you will go for lunches every month in order to have an informal catch-up. We all look forward to our annual Christmas dinner, which takes place in one of the Cambridge colleges and is always a great success. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic we managed to maintain a team spirit, with online lunches, quizzes and even wine and cheese tasting.
