The Dublin office

Our work

Typical projects

The consultants in the Dublin office work on projects in four out of Analysys Mason's five practices: transaction support, regulation and policy, strategy and transformation. We have made sense of the TMT industry's challenges and opportunities since 1998, and have helped our clients around the world to make critical business decisions.

Meet the office head

Office head intro - Dublin

Welcome to the Dublin office! I have overall responsibility for Analysys Mason's business in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. I am a highly experienced telecoms adviser, and I have worked extensively in the design, implementation and project management of fixed, wireless and sub-sea telecoms systems. Prior to joining Analysys Mason, I spent 12 years in the Irish Defence Forces as a telecoms engineer and project manager.

I am proud of the Dublin team and our reputation in the Irish telecoms market for robust analysis, rigor and knowledge. I am also proud of the flexibility, knowledge and abilities of our team as they work locally and worldwide for a range of public sector and private sector clients.

Come and join my team! We are looking for open minds and a willingness to learn and to support others on the team. We are looking for those who will challenge and explain and logically support their views. Ideal candidates will also be able to persuade and be persuaded using facts and knowledge.

Before joining Analysys Mason, I was a commissioned officer in the Irish Defence Forces working in the area of telecoms and IT systems. After spending almost 13 years in this role (including a tour of duty with the United Nations), I joined Analysys Mason in May 1999, soon after the deregulation of the Irish telecoms market. During my time at Analysys Mason I have been engaged in a wide variety of projects across Europe, Asia and Central and South America. To relax, I enjoy dining out as well as being outdoors, and I am an active member of my local Scout group.

Steve Roe Manager

I am originally from Glasgow, but have lived and worked in Dublin for almost 20 years. After graduating from the University of Strathclyde, I joined Nortel Networks, a leading equipment vendor, where I worked in a number of roles, including software development, pre-sales support and technical services. I then moved to Dublin and spent some time working with Esat Digifone (now Three Ireland) before joining the rest of the team in the Dublin office. I have worked extensively with a wide range of public- and private-sector clients, and have managed projects for regulators, operators, national and local government authorities, private equity and venture capital investors and large enterprise clients. When not working, I enjoy family time, cinema, live music, horse racing and, thanks to my father-in-law, am now a supporter of Bohemian FC.

Gordon Mooney Principal

I have over 14 years of experience in the telecoms, media and technology industries, and have worked on a wide range of technology solutions. My areas of expertise include terrestrial and submarine telecoms system implementations, commercial and technical due diligence, procurement, technical strategy, business planning, Excel modelling and geographical information systems (GIS). My previous clients include fixed and mobile telecoms operators, regulators, investment banks, corporations, public-sector organisations and local and central governments. Outside of the office, my interests include motorsport and hiking.

Gerard Calis Manager

I am originally from Zimbabwe, but have studied in South Africa and the UK. After completing my MSc in environmental management, I joined the London office as an Intern. I then moved to the Dublin office in 2018 to be an Associate Consultant. My capabilities are growing to include commercial and technical due diligence, strategy and planning. In projects, I tend to do a lot of modelling in Excel and MapInfo, and I have a particular interest in the areas where Analysys Mason is growing its expertise, such as utilities. Outside of work, I am quite active: I enjoy cycling, yoga, baking and crocheting, as well as hydroponics!

Culture and benefits

Office and culture - Dublin

Culture

The best things about the Dublin office are the city centre location (very close to cafés, bars and main shopping districts), the small team and good craic (this is an Irish expression for good fun and enjoyable social activity)!

We often have social events including cocktail making classes, dinners or the easy after-work pint, which helps to build a sense of comradery. Birthday doughnuts are a thing (though it is up to the birthday person to bring said doughnuts)! Paida is working on becoming the office prankster, though there has only been one successful prank to date (picture Brussels sprouts covered in chocolate and nuts, posing as Ferrero Rochers). A number of us have now got ‘pandemic puppies’, so we hope there might be a ‘bring your puppy to work’ day.
