The Kolkata office

Analysys Mason’s story in Kolkata started in 2019 after the company acquired AMI-Partners. AMI-Partners was established in the USA in 1996 and the Indian operations started in 2002. AMI-Partners emerged as a global market leader in the ICT research and consulting space, and focused primarily on small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) around the world. AMI-Partners India grew rapidly, and many talented individuals came on board and worked with most of the large global ICT firms.

As part of Analysys Mason, the India team provides in-depth market insights and business advisory to various ICT vendors. We support the Analysys Mason research team with regular desk research, data analysis and content creation. We also work on various consulting projects focused on the SMB segment.

Location

Our office is in the IT hub of Kolkata. The area is well-connected and easily accessible with plenty of transport options. Other services such as banks and post offices are just around the corner. We are 5 minutes away from a beautiful waterfront with lovely parks and green areas. We are surrounded by many entertainment and recreation options: multiplexes, restaurants, malls, amusement parks, pubs and bars.

Our office is in an almost brand new centrally air-conditioned building that is well-equipped with all facilities. Individual cubicles, large conference rooms with LED TVs, small meeting rooms, Wi-Fi broadband – we have it all! You can also look out of the window and enjoy a great view of the surrounding lakes and scenery.

Typical projects

The typical projects that we work on in the Kolkata office cover three main areas: global research support, data analysis and consulting projects focused on SMB market insights.

We work closely with all types of ICT players to understand their key strategic issues and use our strong industry knowledge and expertise to support them.  For example, we provide market sizing, opportunity assessments and insights into SMBs’ purchase journeys, technology adoption and digital transformation journeys.

Project example

I had the opportunity to work in an innovative and high-value project aimed at ensuring the success of a global cloud-based software organisation focusing on business software. I played a major part in creating visually interesting and innovative slides that best represented the findings from our survey. 

I enjoyed this project because it was complex and challenging. I had to work under extremely tight timelines and had to format many intricate slides, while ensuring a good look and feel throughout.

Ayan Majumdar, Senior Graphic Designer

A global vendor wished to gain a comprehensive understanding of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on SMB ICT adoption, and how the pandemic has affected SMBs’ attitudes and technology adoption journeys. The project included a primary survey of more than 1600 SMBs in 6 countries.

The project revealed how business challenges, priorities and cultural trends vary by country. It also provided insights on how small businesses struggled during the pandemic and how they are now trying to improve their use of technology to optimise their business operations. I enjoyed the challenging task of analysing the huge amount of complex data to understand the mindsets and attitudes of SMBs. It was great to be able to use our experience in the SMB space and provide detailed go-to-market strategies to enable SMBs and vendors to understand the impact of the pandemic on SMB ICT adoption.

I worked on collecting information about residential FTTP-based triple- and double-play services in 18 countries in Europe, 5 in Asia–Pacific and 4 in the Middle East for Analysys Mason's Multi-play pricing benchmark. Working on this project was a good learning experience for me. I had to collect information on bandwidth and the various features included in the bundle. It was interesting to see how the offers vary across countries and operators in terms of features and prices.

The Analysys Mason DataHub is a vital database tool and enables our clients to access our core data products from an online portal. It is interesting and challenging for our team to collect accurate data for over 50 telecoms operators worldwide. We are happy to be associated with this project because it is used by clients and Analysys Mason analysts and consultants for multiple projects and reports. Working on this project on a regular basis has enhanced our research skills and we are now accustomed to and well-versed in the sources of information.

One of the projects that I have particularly enjoyed involved conducting a high-volume primary survey in five countries for a client. This was interesting because it involved segmentation, predictive modelling and real-time profiling.

Segmentation is one of the main tools that helps marketers to target their customers effectively; it allows companies to learn more about their customers. They gain a better understanding of customers' needs and can therefore organise their campaigns/messages more effectively. Segmentation projects are always interesting; it is fascinating to see how customers can be divided according to their attitudes, behaviours, firmographic characteristics and technology adoption propensity. The segmentation and predictive modelling part of the project were complex; I learnt a lot from the lead analyst and ran segmentation models to split out the customers.

Meet the office head

Fiona Glennon, Managing Partner and Board Director, leads the Research division in Analysys Mason. Fiona joined Analysys Mason in 2010 and is based in our London office. She is an experienced global executive and has a proven track record in managing change, bottom-line growth and business acquisition and integration.

Fiona has led the Kolkata office since the acquisition of AMI-Partners in 2018. She has overseen the successful growth and development of its analyst and marketing teams.

Meet the team

I have more than 10 years of experience in branding corporate presentations, brochures, emails, newsletters, social media graphics and podcasts using PowerPoint, Word, Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Pro. Before joining Analysys Mason, I worked at several leading organisations including AMI-Partners, Pinnacle Infotech Solutions, PwC, Club7Holidays, Tata Interactive Systems and eDrishti Creations. I graduated from Calcutta University, India with a degree in commerce. I also hold a multimedia degree from Arena Multimedia.

Ayan Majumdar Senior Graphic Designer

I hold a BA from Burdwan University and a Bachelor of Library and Information Science from Netaji Subhas University. I have been with Analysys Mason for over 2 years and have 17 years of work experience. I conduct desk research and data mining for the DataHub to maintain telecoms operator data. It is interesting to work on various projects with a team of highly knowledgeable and friendly colleagues. The company provides many opportunities for me to grow my skills and capabilities. I previously worked with AMI-Partners and Reliance Industries. I enjoy keeping up with the news, listening to music and reading books.

Krishna Gopal Dan Research Analyst

I am a senior member of the data analytics team. I have more than 19 years of experience in data analysis and management, consulting, quantitative reporting and market research pertaining to price tracking, customer satisfaction measurement, mapping and the B2B, social and healthcare sectors. I have been involved in many assignments relating to country-syndicated research, customised projects, predictive modelling, market segmentation and market-sizing forecasts. I perform various statistical analyses on quantitative data and have experience in detailed secondary research. Before joining Analysys Mason, I was a Research Associate for Synovate India. I was involved in project management, data-driven analytics and quality control. I hold a MSc in economics with a specialisation in monetary economics from Calcutta University. I enjoy singing and listening to music in my leisure time.

Chitrita Dey Analyst

I graduated from West Bengal University of Technology with a degree in electronics and communications engineering and started my career as an associate data analyst at Kantar. I have over 4 years of experience in data analysis, data mining, data modelling, primary research, secondary research, quantitative research and survey programming. My hobbies are playing board games and listening to music. Analysys Mason provides access to training from edX to help me to develop my career. This is a great place to pursue a career with many opportunities to learn and get involved.

Subhadip Sen Research Analyst

I am in the business development team and have more than 10 years of sales and business development experience. I specialise in onboarding new logos. Before joining Analysys Mason, I worked for Rebaca Technologies, where I was involved in selling 4G/5G test automation solutions to telecoms vendors, service providers and systems integrators in North America. Before this, I worked for Euromonitor International, a global FMCG market research company with a focus on government, education and financial establishments. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in electronics and communication from West Bengal University of Technology, and an MBA from Institute of Management Studies, India.

Bishwarup Som Business Development Manager

I have a BSc in physics and an MBA in marketing management. I have more than 20 years of experience in research and consulting. I had worked for AMI-Partners for nearly 17 years and subsequently have been working as a Consultant for Analysys Mason for the last 2 years, focusing on ICT services for SMBs, as well as telecoms research. A key advantage of Analysys Mason is that one gets the opportunity to work on custom projects for global ICT players and can suggest innovative solutions for clients’ marketing problems. Juniors get extensive training (both formal and on-the-job). You can ask mentors for help at any time and it is possible to work with colleagues in various offices around the world. My main hobby is appreciating Indian classical music; I play the ‘tabla’ – a popular Indian percussion instrument.

Dev Chakravarty Consultant

I have worked as a Production Specialist at Analysys Mason for over 2 years and have a total of 19 years of work experience. I assist analysts with secondary research and data collection for DataHub, an online database tool containing historical telecoms operator data. I also prepare presentation slide decks with spreadsheets. Before joining Analysys Mason, I worked at AMI-Partners and Reliance Industries. In my spare time, I enjoy playing cricket and reading detective books. I am interested in organic farming. I am a graduate from Calcutta University and completed an Advance Diploma in system management at LCC.

Kanchan Mukherjee Production Specialist

I have worked at Analysys Mason for more than 2 years as a Production Specialist and have a total of 19 years of work experience. I support analysts with secondary research and work on presentation decks. Before joining Analysys Mason I worked for AMI-Partners and NICCO. I enjoy listening to music and am interested in horticulture. I hold a BCom degree from CU.

Pompa Das Gupta Lead Generation Executive

I have been a Production Specialist at Analysys Mason for over 2 years and have a total of 19 years of work experience. I support analysts with secondary research and am well-versed in using LinkedIn, Zoominfo, Hubspot and Cognism for data collection. I am also experienced in using Excel and PowerPoint. I previously worked for AMI-Partners, Reliance BPO and Bata India. I hold a BCom degree from Calcutta University, an EMBA degree from PSBM and a diploma in network computing from NIIT.

Pranab Bose Lead Generation Executive

I am a Consultant for Analysys Mason and have more than 14 years of experience in research and consulting. I specialise in quantitative research analysis. I have been involved in market forecasts, data analysis, conjoint analysis, price sensitivity measurement and recommending appropriate pricing strategies for new products to vendors. I enjoy using my skills to contribute to the exciting projects that happen every day at Analysys Mason. I have an MBA degree in marketing management and a postgraduate degree in computer software technology. In my free time I like to hike, listen to music and read books.

Our office is in a state-of-the-art building that is secure, clean and well-managed. The office is spacious, airy and hygienic with comfortable, ergonomic furniture and up-to-date equipment. All this makes for a productive workspace that keeps us motivated and inspired, and ensures the best output. The leadership team is supportive, considerate and approachable. Employee wellbeing is the top priority. Every employee is valued and kept involved.
