The Madrid office

The Madrid office was founded in 2000. We have worked with the major players and operators in Iberia and Latin America to become a key advisor for the TMT industry in these regions. Our team has grown significantly over the years.

Location

The Madrid office is next to Paseo de la Castellana and is located in Chamberí. This vibrant neighbourhood in downtown Madrid offers a great variety of restaurants, bars and local shops that are very close to the office. Commuting using public transport is easy and time-efficient thanks to the office’s central location within the city.

The office has been recently refurbished. It is comfortable, modern and provides a collaborative workspace and private meeting rooms.

The people that I work with make such a big difference to the enjoyment of my job. There is a very good office environment, and everyone is very supportive and approachable. The office is in a great location, with lots of natural light and an area that is exclusively dedicated to our coffee breaks (we are never short of good coffee and biscuits).

Typical projects

The recent market dynamics in our target geographies, with the arrival of 5G and the strong growth of digital infrastructure (fibre, towers and data centres), mean that most of our projects have been concentrated around regulation and policy and transaction support. Indeed, more than 80% of the projects performed in 2020 were related to either transaction due diligence or regulatory advice.

My favourite project to date was a buy-side tower due diligence project in Brazil. I already had experience in the tower industry, but never from a transaction support (M&A) standpoint, so I was able to learn aspects of the industry that I had not seen before, mainly thanks to the unique knowledge of my colleagues.

Meet the office head

Welcome to the Madrid office! I lead Analysys Mason's operational consulting practice in Spain, Portugal and Latin America. I have been with Analysys Mason since 2012. I have particular expertise in the areas of go-to-market, commercial and operational improvement, customer value management, large transformational programmes and due diligence/business planning at both the strategic formulation and operational execution level. I have a strong TMT background, having worked for telecoms operators and global strategy consulting firms. I also co-founded the mmC Group prior to joining Analysys Mason. I hold an MSc in telecommunications engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain) and an executive MBA from IESE Business School (Spain).

I feel very proud of what we have achieved as a team in Madrid over the years. Analysys Mason has become a reputable brand in the Spanish TMT market, and is well-known for being a very reliable, honest and independent advisory consulting firm that provides clients with in-depth valuable insights during M&A transactions, regulatory changes and key transformational business decisions.

Meet the team

I am a Principal at the Madrid office with more than 16 years of experience in the telecoms sector. I have worked for Analysys Mason since 2014 and prior to that, I worked at Everis as a Business Consultant. I have led a wide range of consultancy projects related to infrastructure valuation and regulation in Europe and Latin America. I also have extensive experience in commercial and marketing projects, as well as expertise in the development of go-to-market strategies for fixed and mobile operators, focusing on product and pricing, customer segmentation and channel definition. In my personal life, I love spending time with my family and travelling, reading and running. I hold an MSc in telecommunications engineering from Universidad de Deusto Bilbao (Spain) and an EMP MBA from Universidad de Deusto (Spain), Audencia Nantes (France) and School of Management of Bradford (UK).

Working in the Madrid office

Every working day, we try to have an informal coffee break among whoever wants to join. Likewise, those who stay in the office tend to have lunch together. Certain people bring their own food, whereas others pick something from one of the restaurants nearby. We also like to have lunch outside from time to time. Being full of energy is definitely the best way to face the afternoon!

Working in an open space enables everyone to interact in a fluid and transparent manner. Meeting rooms are available when a specific project team is having a client meeting or an internal discussion to avoid disturbing the rest of the office. The working environment means that hierarchical barriers are softened and it is easy to share knowledge and ask for others’ opinions in subjects that one might feel doubtful about. Compared with other firms that have a more rigid hierarchical structure (according to current members of the team), this is a key strength of Analysys Mason because it increases efficiency and everybody feels more comfortable to express their opinions.

Beyond our business duties, we also like to organise social events outside the office, such as dinners, sports competitions and the annual offsite trip, where many different Analysys Mason offices travel together to a holiday destination for a long weekend. These activities are a great way to disconnect from the office, have some fun and get to know each other better.

I like that everyone (from Associate Consultants to Partners) is happy to help you out with what you are doing and spend their time explaining things. You always have the chance to work very closely with project directors, which gives you the opportunity to learn a lot faster than in other consulting firms. The work environment is very friendly and there are a range of planned activities both in and out of the office (such as going out for lunch with colleagues during the week and sports activities during the weekend).

I particularly like that everyone is very supportive and generous with their time. If someone is an expert on a particular topic, they are always willing to take the time to discuss it with me and share their knowledge. I like that nearly every day we do something with others in the office, be that having coffee or eating lunch. If you apply, we’ll ask you to complete an online assessment. If successful, you will be invited to two face-to-face interviews; in the second one, you will be asked to give a presentation. Finally, you will be invited to an interview with one of our Partners.
