Operators could maximise the capabilities of existing in-home equipment by offering Wi-Fi motion sensing
Wi-Fi motion-sensing technology detects movement in customers’ homes by analysing the disruptions caused by moving objects in Wi-Fi signals. The technology has been deployed commercially by a growing number of vendors and telecoms operators since 2019. Telecoms operators should consider offering Wi-Fi motion detection as a value-added service (VAS) because it requires no extra hardware and is therefore potentially affordable to offer. It also brings revenue-generating opportunities, encourages the adoption of advanced Wi-Fi equipment and mesh systems, and could contribute to customer retention.
