This edition of the Spectrum Newsletter for up to the end of October 2025 highlights the spectrum auction activity in four regions worldwide:
- the Americas (Latin America (LATAM) and North America (NA))
- Asia–Pacific (emerging Asia–Pacific (EMAP) and developed Asia–Pacific (DVAP))
- Europe (Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and Western Europe (WE))
- the Middle East and Africa (MEA).
Notable events in the period include the following.
- Turkey. Turkey’s Information and Communications Technologies Authority (BTK) announced the results of its auction for spectrum in the 700MHz and 3.5GHz bands on 16 October 2025 to support the country’s 5G roll-out. 400MHz of spectrum was sold during the auction, raising USD2.9 billion. Turkcell won 20MHz in the 700MHz band and 140MHz in the 3.5GHz band, paying USD1.2 billion. Türk Telekom won 20MHz in the 700MHz band and 120MHz in the 3.5GHz band, paying USD1.1 billion. Vodafone Turkey won 20MHz in the 700MHz band and 80MHz in the 3.5GHz band, paying USD627 million.
- Indonesia. Indonesia’s Ministry of Communications and Digital (Komdigi) completed its auction for spectrum in the 1.4GHz band (L-band) on 15 October 2025. The auction covered the 1432–1512MHz range and offered a total of 80MHz across three regions (Regions I, II and III). Viberlink won spectrum in Region I and paid USD24.4 million. MyRepublic was the top bidder in both Region II and Region III, and paid USD23.3 million.
- UK. The UK’s communications regulator OFCOM published the results of its mmWave spectrum auction on 24 October 2025. A total of USD20.1 million was raised by selling 5.4GHz of spectrum in the 40GHz and 26GHz bands. The regional licences awarded cover 68 high-density areas across the UK. Three operators (BT, O2 and VodafoneThree) each acquired 800MHz of spectrum in the 26GHz band and 1000MHz of spectrum in the 40GHz band. Each operator paid a total of USD17.4 million.
- Tanzania. Tanzania’s Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) completed its auction for four blocks of 50MHz in the 3600–3800MHz band on 9 July 2025. The auction raised USD83.4 million. Halotel won 100MHz of spectrum for USD45.9 million and Yas and Vodacom each secured 50MHz, paying USD19.7 million and USD17.8 million, respectively.
