Addressing the challenge of AI agent interoperability

Autonomous operations require AI agent interoperability, but this cannot yet be achieved using existing APIs. Telecoms operators and vendors that are developing AI agents should therefore identify the interface requirements for AI agent interoperability and explore ways in which to realise them.

This report provides:

• an overview of the issues linked to APIs that make them unfit to enable AI agent interoperability
• details of the requirements for AI agent interoperability
• insights into evolving technology protocols that are being introduced to facilitate AI agent interoperability
• recommendations for how telecoms operators and vendors can evolve their existing APIs using new technology protocols and existing assets, such as knowledge graphs, to achieve AI agent interoperability.
