The Cloud and Platform Services research practice covers the deployment of cloud platform services and infrastructure technology for the service provider industry. Such products and services are non-industry-specific but are increasingly being adapted for telecoms uses, such as network cloudification. They are supplied by a range of vendors, including long-established IT players such as IBM and Microsoft, open-source pioneers such as Red Hat, and public cloud providers such as AWS and Google. The telecoms industry is moving rapidly to use cloud technology, to supply connectivity infrastructure to the cloud industry and to participate in new cloud value chains such as edge computing.
