Analysys Mason attended Deutsche Telekom’s analyst event in Bonn, Germany, in June 2023. The event primarily focused on Deutsche Telekom’s B2B portfolio and the importance of B2B and IT services in the company’s present and future success. Despite this, the financial market’s valuation of Deutsche Telekom’, reflected in its share price and market capitalisation, has not yet fully recognised the importance of its B2B focus. Financial analysts in the European telecoms sector tend to concentrate more on B2C, and particularly  capex for fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) deployments. The B2B market is far more complex, making it challenging to assess and hence value.

While the returns on its long-term investments in its mobile and fixed networks may take time to materialise, Deutsche Telekom’s B2B division has made progress towards organisational and technological transformation within a relatively short period. This progress highlights Deutsche Telekom’s ability to adapt to changing dynamics and meet the evolving networking requirements of enterprises. However, in order to maintain its position as a leading network provider, Deutsche Telekom must accelerate its platform and automation roadmap with the increasing demand from enterprises for simplified network-as-a-service (NaaS) solutions.
