Analysys Mason attended IoT Tech Expo Global in London in February 2026 where discussions focused on improving cross-network compatibility in IoT deployments. Three themes emerged: the SGP.32 eSIM standard, 5G RedCap and satellite connectivity.

These themes reflect a shift in how the IoT ecosystem is addressing multinational IoT deployments that require continuous and reliable coverage. SGP.32 should simplify interoperability between network providers, while 5G RedCap and 5G eRedCap could be used to consolidate the multiple cellular technologies that currently serve the low-and mid-bandwidth IoT segment. Satellite connectivity providers’ launches are also advancing quickly, and the associated new networks can provide an alternative connectivity option for use cases in remote locations.
