5G RedCap: assessment of characteristics
5G Reduced Capability (RedCap) is designed to offer a balance of capabilities between the extremes of high-performance 5G New Radio and the low-power capabilities of NB-IoT/LTE-M. Traffic currently served by mid-tier LTE technologies is expected to eventually migrate to 5G RedCap.
