Operators are already major players in the rapidly growing small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) cyber-security market. Indeed, the results of our 1Q 2025 business survey indicate that roughly 20% of SMEs buy the majority of their cyber-security solutions from a telecoms operator. They also show that many SMEs prefer to buy security services together with connectivity, which suggests that there is an opportunity for operators to extend their role within the SME cyber-security market further.

Operators’ cyber-security portfolios must include endpoint, email and web security at a minimum, and operators must proactively upgrade these services in order to remain competitive in the market. Offering these as managed services can help operators to differentiate and allows them to maximise their role in the SME cyber-security market.
