"Operators are responding to the threat from OTT players in various ways, partnering with them to encourage the take-up of mobile data services, or launching their own next-generation services."

Analysys Mason's Next-generation communication services tracker helps you to keep pace with changes in the rapidly-evolving communication services sector. We track over-the-top (OTT) communications services (such as WhatsApp Messenger), operator-provided communications apps (such as joyn and Libon) and VoLTE deployments.

For each service, we collate publicly available data on pricing (where applicable), features and adoption.

This tracker provides information about pricing, coverage, features and take-up for:

  • operator communications services (whether a proprietary IP-based service or standards-based service)
  • operator VoLTE deployments, RCS launches and OTT communications services (such as KakaoTalk and WhatsApp Messenger).

The tracker includes worldwide data, which can be filtered into the following eight regions.

  • North America
  • Western Europe
  • Central and Eastern Europe
  • Developed Asia–Pacific
  • Emerging Asia–Pacific
  • Latin America
  • Middle East and North Africa
  • Sub-Saharan Africa
