The impact of COVID-19 on SMB IT demandThis is one of several reports that we will publish to address the impact of COVID-19 on the small and medium-sized business (SMB) market. It quantifies COVID-19 impact on SMB demand in 2020-2022.

The forecast highlights how IT spending growth rates will be affected across various vertical industries and company size bands (in terms of the number of employees). We also show how growth rates will change in a range of IT categories to illustrate how SMBs will prioritise their spending upon exiting the COVID-19 downturn.

Of the 2 scenarios shown in this report, scenario 2 is a truer reflection of how business is, and will be conducted over the remainder of this year. However, we are quantifying and forecasting a quickly evolving situation, and the environment may be vastly different in 6 months’ time than today – medical breakthroughs will be a key determinant.

Our next report will bring insights from surveys with SMBs, including perspectives on the types of help SMBs are seeking from their channel partners as lockdowns begin to lift partially.
