Direct-to-device (D2D) services are still nascent – just 10% of mobile operator groups have announced partners for satellite services, and only a small fraction of these operators have launched commercial services. This tracker report highlights some of the important trends that are emerging for D2D services, even at this early stage of development/deployment.
Information included in this report
- The number of planned D2D services, by type of provider (mobile operator, device vendor and independent service provider)
- The status of each service (announced, planned, testing, active)
- The satellite operator that each service provider is partnering with
- The types of business model that are being implemented, with some example prices
The report is based on data captured in Analysys Mason’s Direct-to-device plans and services tracker August 2025.
