Telecoms operators in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have grown strongly over the last few years, due to high demand for data services supported by high smartphone penetration. However, they must maintain high usage among postpaid users and improve their monetisation of low-income prepaid users’ data usage.

This report provides:

  • approaches that regional operators can adopt to stimulate usage and improve the effectiveness of data traffic monetisation, such as app- and time-based pricing, in addition to introducing low-speed, unlimited data allowances and sub-branding
