WRC-19: lack of C-band spectrum harmonisation
16 March 2020 | Research
Strategy report | PPTX and PDF (6 slides) | Next-Generation Wireless Networks
Mobile network operators (MNOs) require the right quantity of spectrum in particular bands in order to deliver 5G services. The lack of spectrum harmonisation will increase spectrum auction costs and reduce MNOs’ ability to provide competitve 5G services, which will negatively affect consumers.
This report provides:
- an overview of 5G spectrum, including what coverage and capacity is provided by each band
- recommendations for both MNOs and vendors to ensure that fair market competition is maintained
- recommendations of what technology innovations vendors should develop as part of their roadmap in order to enable MNOs to deliver a good quality of service (QoS) for 5G.
