"We expect AT&T's containerised 'Network Cloud' solution to set new industry benchmarks as an execution environment for 5G network workloads in data centre and edge locations."
AT&T is pushing ahead with containerisation at cloud infrastructure level to gain the speed and cost advantages that it was unable to achieve with earlier iterations. At the OpenStack Summit 2018 in Vancouver, AT&T unveiled its strategy for a network-optimised cloud, which is an evolution of AT&T Integrated Cloud (AIC) and will underpin its 5G network launch, slated for 12 US cities in 4Q 2018. AT&T expects Network Cloud to set new benchmarks as the execution environment for 5G network workloads in data centre and edge locations.
