MNOs will reap more benefits from edge computing through industry collaboration
High-profile operators and vendors at this year’s Edge Computing Congress in London expressed much more enthusiasm about the edge computing advances that have been made than in previous years. However, it was also clear that a large number of mid-tier operators were still uncertain about the edge computing business case and how and when to deploy it. Edge computing will bring benefits, particularly when combined with 5G networks. Indeed, low-latency use cases such as gaming have been highlighted on numerous occasions, but building an edge computing platform is complex. There are a number of unresolved issues that still need to be addressed.
