Gorkem Yigit

Research Director

As cloud, AI and telecoms networks converge, I focus on how shifts at this intersection are reshaping industry dynamics and what they mean for operators, vendors and other stakeholders.

Gorkem is a Research Director within the Networks and Cloud research practice. He leads the Cloud and AI Infrastructure and the NaaS Platforms and Infrastructure research programmes. He guides clients through the transition to software- and cloud-based network technologies and architectures that support automation, AI capabilities and API-enabled services.

He has been doing research on the ‘cloudification’ of telecom networks for over a decade, tracking the shift from traditional network infrastructure to cloud-native and disaggregated architectures. While his work has long focused on developments such as cloud-native mobile core, vRAN and Open RAN and their automation, it also covers adjacent and emerging areas, including AI infrastructure to support operational automation and new services such as GPUaaS, as well as the evolution of enterprise connectivity into network-as-a-service models enabled by APIs and programmable networking.

In addition to published insight, Gorkem advises telecoms operators, vendors, regulators and financial institutions on strategy development, business-case modelling, market sizing, benchmarking and other thought leadership initiatives. His work on total cost of ownership (TCO) models has played a role in shaping industry perspectives on cloud-native 5G SA core, Open RAN and disaggregated IP/transport networks.

Gorkem joined Analysys Mason in 2013 after completing an MSc in Economics and Management of Innovation and Technology at Bocconi University, Italy. He is fluent in English, Turkish and Italian. Outside work, he is a wine enthusiast with formal training through the WSET programme and often spends holidays exploring wine regions.
