Imran is a Partner in the London office and covers the Middle East and Europe. He has over 20 years of experience in the TMT space, including as Chief Strategy and Governance Officer for stc Bahrain.
Imran has led multiple growth and diversification-focused strategy cycles throughout his career. His track record of creating value lies not only in developing strategic plans and growth initiatives, but also in bringing them to fruition. He played an instrumental role in the diversification of a telecoms operator from a pure mobile player to an integrated dual-play market leader, followed by further diversification into fintech, insurtech, IT and data centres.
Imran headed stc Bahrain’s legal and regulatory affairs department as part of his leadership role at the company. He therefore has a deep understanding of telecoms regulation and policy topics such as regulatory economics, spectrum awards and national broadband networks separation. In addition, he is able to understand the challenges and impact of policy and regulations on telecoms operators’ strategy and growth.
On the transactions front, Imran has spearheaded the acquisition and post-acquisition integration of a home broadband player, the divestment of fixed fibre infrastructure and the assessment of a passive tower infrastructure carve-out.
Imran is a versatile and well-rounded professional; he graduated in computer science, which enables him to engage with clients on a technical level. He also obtained an MBA from INSEAD, which gives him a solid grounding in business and management.
Imran has lived in six different countries: Pakistan, China, France, Romania, Bahrain and now the UK. This has given him the chance to learn (and, in some cases, forget!) several different languages. He is an avid cricket fan, and his dream job would be a cricket analyst or TV commentator.
