Karim is a lead analyst for Analysys Mason's The Middle East and Africa regional research programme and a contributor to the Private Networks programme. His primary areas of specialisation include operators' digital strategies, new telecoms opportunities and challenges, consumer and enterprise trends in MEA and IoT platforms. He is also a regular speaker and moderator at regional telecoms events.

Karim has provided recommendations to operators, telecoms solution vendors and regulatory bodies on areas encompassing market review, investment potential, best practices and strategic responses to competitive threats. He has also carried out several studies on 5G and IoT and has contributed extensively to the market assessment and forecasting of different verticals in the telecoms industry.

Before joining Analysys Mason, Karim was an associate analyst at Ovum, where he authored reports on mobile accessories and mobile applications. Earlier in his career, he worked as a research engineer at Vodafone and the Institute for Communication Systems in the UK.

Karim holds an MSc in information systems management from the University of Southampton and a PhD in human–computer interaction from the University of Surrey.
