Thomas Caslavka

Principal, expert in growth strategy, M&A and value creation

Potential is the most undervalued asset a company has, because it never appears on the balance sheet.

Thomas is a Principal in Analysys Mason’s Munich office. He advises private equity investors and corporates on M&A, growth strategy and value creation in the technology sector across Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH) and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). He leads cross-border engagements, helping investors and corporate clients identify revenue growth opportunities and develop strategies to increase business value. His work spans the full investment cycle – investment strategy, due diligence, full-potential planning, buy-and-build and value creation – mostly in small- and mid-cap software, IT services and digital infrastructure.

Much of Thomas’s work sits between deals. His work includes full-potential plans to identify a company’s next phase of growth, alongside M&A and buy-and-build strategies that consolidate fragmented markets into scalable businesses. He also advises on operational improvements to market-entry plans that increase efficiency and profitability to create capacity for growth. His test for a good strategy is simple – a short list of decisions, backed by numbers management trusts and can act on. Recent examples include a full-potential plan for a software-as-a-service (SaaS) vendor choosing which software ecosystems to build or buy into, and an M&A strategy for a CEE investment group.

Thomas first joined Telescope Advisory Partners in 2022, focusing on commercial due diligence and buy-and-build strategies for financial investors. He then worked at the strategy consultancy Advancy and then at Kearney, where he advised top management in the energy and technology, media and telecoms (TMT) sectors on cost optimisation, vendor assessments and procurement. He returned to Telescope in 2024 as the firm became part of Analysys Mason. Thomas holds a Master’s in Financial Markets and Investments from SKEMA Business School and completed the Wharton School’s executive programme in M&A and Corporate Development Strategies in 2025.

Outside work, Thomas is a keen jogger with an enduring curiosity about big questions – the Fermi paradox among them.
