Cableco strategies for migration to FTTP
Cablecos are losing broadband market share, and DOCSIS cost structures will make it difficult for them to compete with FTTP operators in the long term. Many will eventually need to migrate to FTTP, but the optimal migration path is not always obvious.
Cablecos have a range of options for entering the FTTP market, including new FTTP network construction (in overlay, edge-out or greenfield models), competitor acquisition or becoming an FTTP wholebuyer.
This report reviews the FTTP migration strategies open to cablecos and considers the advantages and disadvantages of the different approaches.
