Transformation is intensely social, and usually indirect. You reach the goal through people, not by driving at it head on.
Al is an Engagement Director at Analysys Mason, working on operating models and transformation across the built environment and digital infrastructure. With experience spanning construction, infrastructure, real estate, energy, telecoms and automotive, he helps organisations design the operating models, governance and ways of working they need in order to scale and deliver under pressure. He has led programmes for FTSE 100 businesses, private equity-backed ventures, and regulators.
Al’s focus is on transformation that works in practice, not just on paper. He pairs systems thinking with hands-on delivery, and much of his current work is focused on the industrialised construction sector, where manufacturing discipline meets construction culture. His view is that the hard part of any change is behavioural rather than technical, so he builds integrated teams and operating discipline that make new ways of working stick.
Before working with Analysys Mason, Al created and led the Strategic Transformation Office at Landsec, designed the post-investment operating model for a private equity-backed EV charging business, and embedded lean improvement across BT Openreach’s national engineering workforce. He began his career in process-led consulting at Accenture, working with clients including BT Group and Jaguar Land Rover. He also has experience as a design engineer, working on everything from bionic hands to turbochargers for the automotive industry, including time spent on the factory floor.
He holds a PhD from UCL, UK, where he co-designed regulatory strategy with the UK construction products regulator for a fragmented, safety-critical sector, and a first-class Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with Management from Newcastle University, UK.
