MWC25: AI, network APIs and satellite solutions are the future of consumer mobile services
AI, network APIs, quality-on-demand solutions and satellite-to-device services were the dominant themes for consumer services discussed at MWC25 in Barcelona.
Many operators are struggling to differentiate their propositions and grow revenue; introducing 5G services has not helped. As such, mobile service providers will need to add new features to their consumer plans in the near future; MWC25 gave a few hints of what these might be. Operators will look to add AI-related services (such as personal assistants) to their plans and offer enhanced and differentiated connectivity services using network APIs and satellite technology.
The new services presented during the event are undeniably captivating. However, their potential to help operators to significantly grow their revenue remains questionable; they seem better placed to improve the customer experience.
